Mucking the Winner
Nvel 23
: 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
On the turn of a board, we joined the action as Gianluca Speranza put out a bet of 48,000 into a pot of just more than that. His opponent, Andrew Hinrichsen, took pause, then raised the minimum to 96,000. Speranza made the call.
The arrived on the river, and the two men were content to check it down. At showdown, Speranza just went ahead and mucked, and that was probably a mistake. You have to show two cards to win the pot in WSOP events, and Hinrichsen reluctantly turned over his airball in order to claim the chips.
You should have seen the look on Speranza's face.
